My Subjects

Introduction:

This school year for me has been fantastic, and I have been improving every term. Our main subjects are Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Math. I never really liked Social Studies and Science before but now I've actually favorite it. In Language Arts we've been reading a book called "Iqbal" It is about this young boy living in Pakistan that changes every children's lives. In Social Studies we were studying about Mesopotamian and their social orders but we are now finished with that and we are now learning about Egypt and their social orders. In Science we are learning about Buoyancy and Density. In Math we are currently learning about adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing fractions together. Two subjects I'm really good at would probably be Math and Science because I really find them easy ever since last year. Two subjects that I really need to improve on are Social Studies and Language Arts because for some reason I always struggle in those subjects. My goals for the next 6 weeks are to get good marks that will make me and my parents proud.

Term 1 Reflection

In Term 1 for math it seemed really hard at first but once I learned more and more about the subject it turned easy for me. This term I have learned the Pythagorean formula and how to use it whether we had to find b2 or c2. I learned more things about finding the area of a triangle and finding the perimeter of the triangle. I’ve learned how to create a video and post it on the blogger. Probably my favorite part of Term 1 was re-making a Sesame Street video and instead of it being the real video we changed the script to math terms. In Term 1, I have done all my assignments in class but some were incomplete because I had some trouble in some questions because there was some math questions that got me confused and by that means, I didn’t know what to do. What I would like to do better for Term 2 is to finish all my assignments in class, finish all my homework in due date, participate more in the blogger, and study a bit more for our unit tests as I seemed like I struggled a lot in my unit tests because I want to do good better in Term 2 Math then Term 1 Math.

This would be an example of one of my blog posts this year :

If you couldn’t go to the link; This is what it looked like.
I have chosen to do the questions 4,7, and 8 in the homework book on page 33.

4.
6m2 - 1m2 = h
36m-1m=35m
✓ 35m = 5.9m
The ladder reaches 5.9m up the wall.

7.
width = 17cm
length = 26cm
diagonal line = 31cm
17cm2 + 26cm2 = 31cm2
289cm + 676cm = 961cm.
The quadrilateral is not a rectangle because 289cm + 676cm does not equal 961cm, it equals 965.

8.
20 km/h for 10h west equals 200km
20 km/h for 7 1/2h south equals 150km
200km2 + 150km2= ?
40,000km + 22,500km= 62500km
✓ 62,500km =250 km2
The ship is 250km away from the port.

Term 2 Reflection

What did you do well on?
Where did you struggle?
How will you do better next term?
What did you learn about percent, surface area and volume?

On Term two I think I did pretty well on our math quizzes and unit tests and that’s because I started to really do my homework on the textbook that really made it easier on me when we had a test.

I really struggled on our online math homework, and my report card said I did too. I struggled on posting scribe post homework on time, commenting as much on the blog, and I was also lacking in scribe posts.

I will do better by doing more work online on the blog because that part really killed my mark for math. I posted some scribes late and never really commented and I decided to do all that more often.

I learned plenty of things about percent, surface area and volume. I learned that percent means out of 100 and is another name for hundredth. For surface area I learned about the area of a 2D and 3D shape. I learned a lot from volume, I learned how to use the formula properly.

The Man who planted trees

3: The man who planted trees relates to me because we have days to clean up our environment and also their are people who warn us about pollution in plays, and also many other ways in our community.

5: People who approach the problem about our environment, are by thinking about all of the problems in the world today. How we take care of our environment. In my own opinion it motivates people because the earth is becoming severely injured and people need to start becoming aware or there will be nothing that can survive on our planet.

6: The different characters attitudes during the play are:
Jean: Jean agrees what Elzeard is doing and supports it.
Charcoal Burners: They don’t care about the land nor about the trees.
Elzeard: He wants to have a better life for people around him, for them to be able to live and be happy.
The Government: They don’t care about the land or about the trees, just like the charcoal burners.
Member of Parliament: They don’t care, they could care less about the trees and the environment.
Timber Merchants: They don’t care about the environment, all they care about is their money, and how they are getting paid.
Villagers: They don’t know how it got there, but they are grateful because they can live a happy life with that forest that Elzeard planted.

10: Trees affects the environment by a lot. It takes in carbon dioxide and it gives us fresh air. It can give warmth for family and also if there are bushes or food like an apple tree it gives the family around the area food. If there are food and berries animals can get to it and be healthy.
